Tidbits

- Todd and Meghan left last week. It was sad to see them go because they are such great people and an excellent source of knowledge for living in Palau. They had a lot of interesting stories of their experiences here and I enjoyed getting to know Palau through them. It was great having them here for a few weeks, but I'm looking forward to having our own experiences so we can tell the next group of court counsels all our great stories.

- The Executive and OEK have moved to the new Capitol, but the Judiciary wing is not complete. It is largely done, but some of the interior is still a work in progress. We probably will not hold our first hearing there until January. However, it is likely we will be working there full time by March.

- LB, Christy, and I were in the newspaper last Friday. The new group of court counsels is apparently newsworthy enough to garner a story. CJ's assistant wrote the article, which was just a synopsis of our resumes and thankfully was accurate. They took individual photos of us, so we each have a little mugshot in the paper. For the few people who didn't know who I was on the island it should serve as a good introduction.

- The Baseball playoffs, including the World Series, are not shown on TV here. I guess this is too far out in the world for the 'world' series. I do follow it online and I normally can catch highlights on Sportscenter, but it would be nice to watch the Tigers. Same goes for Michigan Football. But don't cry for me, during Game 1 of the World Series I was scuba diving.

- I had to go to the hardware store last week to get a key copied. It is an Ace Hardware store and it has to be the most beautiful location of any Ace Hardware store in the world. It is out at the end of T dock, so it is essentially surrounded by the ocean with the islands dotting the background. That is what life is often like here, go to the hardware store and get a world class view.

- I should be able to get a few hundred pictures online by mid-November. I'm compiling my photos and there are some good ones so far that I have taken, plus I'll be posting some LB took underwater while diving. Look for them in a few weeks.
